12 ways to stay safe online

This term in school we have learning about cyber-safety and digital footprints. Here are 12 ways to stay safe online that I’ve learned.

1. Don’t share passwords because you can get hacked

2. Have a strong password with numbers, symbols and letters so people can’t guess your password

3. Don’t share your addresses because they can come to your house

4. Don’t share personal detail so you don’t get hacked

5. Free offers are never free- there usually a scam and you have to pay anyway so read the conditions carefully

6. Don’t use your credit card for money on the App Store because if they do somehow get your password they can get a lot of money out of your account

7. If the offer is too good to be true then it’s too good to be true- so don’t accept it

8. Never talk to someone who is disrespectful

9. Don’t talk to people you don’t know online

10. Never sign up for anything that asks for phone number or pin card unless you read the terms and conditions with your parents

11. Never put photos of yourself online because they can see where you were in the picture and go there or track you down.

12. If your worried about people online getting to close then talk to a parent or guardian

What if you didn’t follow one of these rules what do you think would happen?
